Jennifer is a one of my older OC's. Post apocalyptic in a world of zombies and all, there's no time to brush your hair in a zombie world. She was a nurse before everything happened. The disease first presented itself at her hospital, but nobody had seen the signs of what was coming. She got off work and later that night choppers, military personal, and news crews were all over the hospital shutting it down and thus ending her career. She was sought out, tested, and told never to speak of it again as the news portrayed it as gang members gone wild. Packing her stuff, she aimed to head home, but as she was leaving the city that weekend, things started to go downhill that very day. Dozens of accidents, fires seeming to pop up everywhere, it took a couple of hours to get out of the city, but by that time so was everyone else. Highways were jammed, crashes lining the road, and so were the dead, trying to bust into the car. She had gotten out to help a woman on the ground, only to find her trying to bite her legs off as the woman's family came around groaning and swatting at her. She booked it back to the car, to grab her bag and race off into the woods. She walked and scrounged for a few days before coming across a small suburban neighborhood, it was empty an quiet, she thought maybe the disease hadn't struck there yet and sought out shelter. But a few houses, in she started to find everything boarded up and the city practically abandoned. She found a baseball bat and killed the few wanderers before finding a house to take shelter in, listening to the news, before cable went out, and to the radio before it went out as well. She lives this way for a couple of months, killing off the few dead she runs into and going to other houses to scrounge.

It's the few months later, someone tried to break in through the same window she had, around the same time other scavengers had started to show up, ready to take anyone hostage if they could. She had almost killed him, but the lonely nurse inside of her helped keep him alive. Just as the wound in his side starts to heal, they're almost caught and have to make another run for it. They never tell each other their real names, but it's not a month or so later, they end up trapped and he sacrifices himself to save her and all she is left with his some dog tags. Other than that, there's more plotting to do, and probably get her a partner or kill her off at one point. [spoilers]
